While I love the way new-fallen snow looks, the clean smooth fluff never lasts long against the dirt and traffic of the city. Which is why getting snow like last night's is so nice: with only a small amount of additional snow everything is refreshed. The dirty piles are gone, replaced by puffy sidewalk clouds. Every so often you can see the old snow peeking out from below the new, a reminder that it won't last.
